Artist's Comments

It was a very wet, rainy day. K and I went for a 4 mile hike in the McDonald Forest, emerging with mud-caked boots, sopping wet clothes, and this photo... among others. It was pretty much an accident of timing and lighting- I looked up the hill, saw the mist through the trees, and hurriedly turned on my (relatively new) digital camera.

Thanks! One of those serendipitous moments. :)

My wife and I went on a field trip to McDonald with our Environmental Science class at Chemeketa a few yrs back.

That is one of the most beautiful nature photos I've seen on DA. Thank You.

Thank *you*!

I love the McDonald forest... it's pretty big, really, with so many trails and roads for exploring. One place we went, there were warning signs for mountain lions, and we were just a couple miles from Corvallis. Craziness!

Plus, there's a number of geocaches and letterboxes there. ;)

it looks so perfect it looks fake.. definitely eerie like it came from someones imagination.

I secretly pop his collar when no one is looking.

It rather gave me that impression, too, like it'd been lifted straight out of a creepy dream rather than off my camera. :)

Seems like the perfect location for a mountian lion to lurk.
